You are agreeing to reserve and block book lessons (term) for your personal or child’s tuition with the school of Moved by Music subject to the terms below:
1. General
1.1 Registrations must be fully completed, including payment of the corresponding fee as outlined in the application form, registration form, or invoice, prior to the commencement of lessons.
1.2 All fees are payable on the dates indicated in the invoices, quotations, or email correspondence. Failure to comply with this may result in the suspension of lessons until the account has been settled.
1.3 Lessons are non-transferable to other students.
1.4 All services are non-refundable.
1.5 The lessons cannot be put on-hold, under any circumstance, by the student or parent. In the event a student cannot attend a lesson or series of lessons due to illness, school or work activities, or any other commitment, we regret the school cannot re-schedule the lesson(s) missed.
1.6 All music programs must be completed within the same academic year (August-May) during which the music program was purchased. Additional weeks at the end of the academic year might be offered by the school, subject to both school and teacher availability, to ensure the completion of any remaining lessons.
1.7 Regular practice in between lessons, as instructed by the teachers, is necessary to reinforce the content of lessons and to maintain the student’s progress.
1.8 Music and practice diaries should be brought to each lesson.
1.9 The school reserves the right to replace and/or substitute teachers.
1.10 Should you wish to discuss your child’s progress or indeed any other relevant issue with your child’s teacher, as a courtesy to the next student, this should be done at the commencement and not at the end of your child’s lesson.
1.11 If for any reason a parent decides to remove their child from classes, or if a student decides not to continue with lessons, we regret that fees cannot be refunded.
1.12 We would ask parents to be courteous and polite to teaching staff at all times. Parents who do not comply may be asked to remove their child from the school.
2. Missed Classes & Cancellations
2.1 In the event of a teacher’s absence due to unavoidable circumstances Moved by Music will endeavour to provide one of the following alternatives, taking into account the teacher’s availability, the student’s schedule, and the school’s calendar:
Rescheduling or a Substitute Teacher: A makeup class at a mutually convenient time for both the student and the teacher.
Online Option: An online lesson may be provided as a substitute for the missed class.
Credit for Next Term: The cost of the missed class can be deducted from the fees of the following term.
2.2 Regrettably, lessons missed by students are both non-refundable and non-reschedulable. As a courtesy to the teacher, and when possible, we request the parent or student to notify the school and the teacher before class time if a student is to be absent.
2.3 In the event of unavoidable extended absence by the student caused by a significant injury or illness, we will make appropriate fee adjustments or provide refunds as necessary. A doctor’s certificate may be requested for verification purposes.
3. Payments
3.1 All payments must be made directly to the school. Payments may be made by bank transfer, or online from our website, or directly from the payment link provided by the school.
3.2 Where you have opted for the payment by instalments, it is essential that each payment is made on or before the dates specified in the invoices, quotations, or any other payment-related communications. Failure to make timely payments will result in an additional late payment administration fee, which will be deducted from the program in the form of a lesson.
4. Online Lessons
4.1 Students must ensure that they have a good quality internet connection. Teachers are under no obligation to make up lessons cancelled due to problems with the student’s internet connection, student absence, student illness, non-appearance or school trips. However, the teacher and the school will endeavour to facilitate students who give two weeks notice of unavoidable absence. As a courtesy to the teacher, we ask that the school of music be notified before class time if a student is to be absent.
4.2 The teacher will set up an individual ‘meeting’ online with the student. At the assigned time, the student should be already at the computer with the app open awaiting the call.
4.3 Online Lessons should not be recorded by either party (i.e. no video, audio, etc.)
5. No-poaching
5.1 Moved by Music has exclusive arrangements with our teachers to provide them with a number of services. We respectfully request that you do not put your teacher in a position of conflict with the school by making any direct approach for tuition for any party. We always appreciate referrals from our students and please enquire directly to the school about our referral scheme and how you can benefit from referring new students to us.
6. Teaching Environment:
6.1 In order for the student and the teacher to give maximum concentration, we kindly request that the room used for the lessons should be quiet and free from interruptions of any sort.
7. COVID-19
7.1 During the period where the COVID-19 pandemic is still in force, we request that any student showing COVID-19 symptoms should not physically attend a lesson. We request that you inform the school as soon as possible. Once the designated period of isolation has taken place or a negative COVID-19 test has been determined, lessons may resume. Up to three lessons can be deferred within a term for a period of three months where COVID-19 has been the cause of the deferment. Deferred lessons will be scheduled in consultation between you and the school.
7.2 In the event that COVID-19 restrictions make the provision of physical lessons impractical, or illegal, the school will deliver the lessons online. If the delivery of online lessons is not practical, the lesson may be deferred until such time as the lessons may recommence or as part of the next term. Payment for the following term will be reduced by the amount of lessons carried forward.
